 new go-devil long tails
Going to by a new longtail. Trying to figure out which is going to fit my boat better? It is a 1656, and i am pushing me and 2 more people, gear, etc. looking at a 27hp or 35hp longtails.

 Re: new go-devil long tails
A 56 wide boat shouldn't have an issue holding a 35, but all hulls are a lil different... If you are buying new, get your dealer to let you try both before you purchase.

 Re: new go-devil long tails
just sold my old 25lt wanted a new one. There aint alot of people that run a 35lt. How much more will a 35lt push than a 27lt?

 Re: new go-devil long tails
I think from what I here your gunna gain more torque and load carrying power with the 35 than speed.
Why not a surface drive?

 Re: new go-devil long tails
I had a 20hp GD lt and it did well in the bad stuff, but I can say with the speed of the SD. I find myself having a much better time. Your more than welcome to try my boat if that would help.

 Re: new go-devil long tails
I had a 23hp on a smaller boat. Got a bigger boat and went with the 35, you will not be disappointed! That thing is a beast, and if you've ran a lt before, it's not hard to handle like some have stated.

 Re: new go-devil long tails
I had a 25 LT and loved it. Started riding with some fellas that had SD and PD's and got left behind so i felt i needed a shorty. Sold the LT and got one and ended up selling the whole rig. I would love to have my LT rig back.

The family and I went ride today. Me (160), the wife (135), two kids (65), ice chest of beverages, spare battery, 6 gal gas, misc bullchit (40) ran a steady 19.2mph. Thats a 27 GDLT with a 9x7 on a 1644 Weld-Craft.

 Re: new go-devil long tails
I used to have a 35 Sport Mud Buddy on a 1754 War Eagle, did great and ran 29 by myself. Sold the rig and went without a boat for a few years. Now I'm in a 1648 Lowe flatbottom with a 35 long tail. Hits 24 by myself and 20 with 2 guys and a load. Had 4 guys in there this weekend with a hunting load and it surprised me that it jumped right up on plane when I hit the throttle. Didn't have the gps to check speeds, but I would guess between 15 and 18 with the 4 of us and load. I don't see myself going back to a shortie, I really like the longtail.
