I have a 35 hp GDSD. I am thinking of switching motors though, the godevil is a good motor but is a hoss to handle sometimes. gotta be ready to get a little beat up. would it be worth making a switch due to this factor. are the other brands easier to drive?

Go test drive other brands dat you are interested in and decide for yourself if you think it is worth da swap.

Gator tail engines feature a floating handle specially for this....if you hit a stump, the handle doesn't jack you in the ribs like that go devil handle does.

My bad Fag boy....,but every one I ever owned had a welded handle. And that's why I got rid of them pieces of chit.

Seriously, How do you hold that engine down in the mud and veggies if it has a floating handle?

Well I must say the GDSD's do have a floating handle,but if you leave it unpinned and floating you cannot make the motor dig. In other words when you get in thick lillies the prop will float up,when you are in mud you cannot push it down.

Its a simple fix you put in the pin and then grind out since your forward momentum has come to a sudden stop.

So what your saying is that to grind out of a situation, you must lock it in place therefore preventing the handle from floating, correct? What happens if you hit something while doing this?

You get wacked with a handle. One time I was running one and my dog was standing next to me and she got wacked hard across her back when I hit something. I'll never forget the look she gave me

If my trim goes out it I can move a pin on the transom bracket to make it sit lower or higher,it will not stop it.

aw h*** il get in this i put the pin in the 2nd hole and the handle floats if it hits some veggies , mud ,
< usally a little farther than the gtr > then i pull up alittle and it diggs then i come around and throw the gtr a line .

Here's a Mud Buddy vs. GTR some nasty SETX mud here, you have to be able to trim WAY down which takes PD right out of the game and leaves GTR, MB, GDSD. Backing up is key as you'll see in the video... This is the reason why I purchased a GTR I knew what the mud was like and I test drove the areas I ride 90% of the time. You go somewhere else other motors may peform better you buy your ride for what you want it to do not anyone else. Every motor gets stuck I was stuck the week before this video for a good hour and had to get pulled out. Just the price you pay for playing in the mud and driving a heavy arse barge Thanks Keith for pulling me out buddy!

thanks for the feedback. after reading all these i think ill stick with the GD for now and maybe make a move to one with a reverse next year.
