 new motor opinions please
i currently have a 14x44 boat with a gdlt 25 on it. it does 22 with just me and from what i hear thats pretty dam good. i may have my motor sold and am looking for a surface drive. i found a used gdsd 27 at go devil with a warranty for 3700. my question is how many mph do you think i will gain over the 22 i am getting now? i would be happy with 27 or 28 mph, and i am usually by myself in the boat, just me (190 lbs), battery, 6 gal gas, safety stuff, small ice chest, and occasionally my 90 lb. pittbull.
before you respond 1. no, i dont wanna buy a bigger boat to hold a 35 2. im not spendin the money on one with reverse thanks in advance, Rod

I'm no expert but I'm sure you'll do at least 27 mph with a surface drive. With the gear reduction you'll be able to spin a bigger prop and that alone should do it.

 Re: new motor opinions please
I used to have a 27 MB on a 1548 G3 (heavy ass boat). Best I ever got was about 25 or so by myself.

 Re: new motor opinions please
Can't say for sure. If your boat's stripped down & lightweight, maybe so. When I sold the G3, I put the 27 on my GD 1644. Gained a couple mph just by swappin boats. Solo I could run 27-28, but didn't keep the 27 very long after I got the GD boat. Hell, give it a shot & see. Ya not gonna put anything bigger on there, that's for sure.

 Re: new motor opinions please
Sounds like a plan. Good luck with it. Hit me up when ya get it & I'll show ya a couple things ya can do to the stock motor & gain a lil. The Kohler's a good lil motor.
