The season opens up here in Florida this coming Saturday and I can't wait! Went scouting this week and found the ducks in places the outboard I had last year would never be able to take me and I didn't see a single one in the places my outboard did take me. So let's all go rack up some hours on these engines of ours (regardless of brand ) and put them to the test. Have a safe season and I hope all of you shoot your limit on opening day!

Duh already on the lake. Got all my decoys out and a case no better time.

This morning was the first day of the season and I got my limit in less than 20 minutes. Couldn't be happier. Had one flock of over 40 birds come in right at legal shooting light and 3 more within 5 minutes of each other with 20+ birds each.

For some reason, they stopped decoying right at sunrise so I'm thinking I wasn't covered well enough. In any case, I'm happy with the way this season started for me and I stayed out there another hour and a half after I finished so my buddy could get his limit and 50 shells later, he managed to down two birds. What's even better is that one of the birds fell in deep water and got eaten by a gator right in front of our faces. So you can be sure that I did not jump in the water today to retrieve my decoys.

What you usually shoot down there in Florida? Ringers and woodrows?

Today I shot all ringers but we have a lot of teal and mottled ducks here. Every now and then we'll see wood ducks, pintails, and wigeons but those birds are considered trophies down here. At least to the guys I hunt with and me.

I've also shot several fulvous whistling ducks and black bellies whistlers but 95% of what I shoot are ringers, teal, and mottled ducks. Can't wait to go out tomorrow morning!

My son and I killed our limit of woodies this am and jus finished eating them. Unbelievable number of woodies this am. Reminded me of the good old days.

Besides the thick fog, we had a good mornin till the dog decided he needed to shit on the front deck...

yeah all ringers over here but saw a couple of mallards wigeons. my friend was lucky enough to get 4 red heads.

Only 5 more days to go and Phase 2 opens here! Can't wait! We had a good cold snap here the last couple of days and it pushed a ton of ducks down. My buddy that went scouting two days ago said he's seen 1000's of ducks flying in our hunting grounds. Normally he's really reserved about what he see's so when this guy tells me there's ducks, there's ducks.
