Post New Situation, and lookin for a boat
Fellas,

I had a Honda 20hp go devil that looked damn near new, and ran like it was new as well.

I came on here and asked about the best boat, I was advised for a 1644 or so, I thought ok and went looking for a boat for the mud motor.

Well, in talkin with some other rednecks and what have ya I wound up trading the Honda 20 gdlt for a vangaurd 16 gdlt and a particular hunting/defence item I have always wanted.

I like the deal I made, the vanguard is in good condition, a little more used than the Honda, but not a whole lot more. Runs smooth and idles well. The 'item' I traded additionally for being a 'semi' and what have ya is badass ;)

So now I need a different boat tho, I was lookin for 1644 range for the 20 honda, so now maybe a 1436 or 1544?

What do old mud dogs like y'all say? Is a 1544 too big for the vanguard?

Can I put me and the kids in a 1436 safely? I am 210lbs, add all 3 of the brats up and they might weigh 200 or so all together, the dog another 45. Is that too much for a 1436? I fish small rivers and cypress swamps in south georgia, seldom mess with big water.

Opinions?

You'll still be fine with a 16x44.
Maybe you can look around and find a 23 vangaurd block one day to swap em out.

Depends on how many guys you run. a 1436 works well with the 16hp as long as you arent running a heavy load or moer than about 2 guys and gear. if you ever go more than that you may want to go bigger. the 16x44 would still do well with that motor. I mean,, your not goign to win any water speed contests on either boat, but it will get you to and from where you need to go.

I'd recomend a 16'x38" or 16'x40" for dat 16hp.
