 WANTED! GatorTrax MB Edition Review
I am looking to buy a GatorTrax 1650 or 1750 MB Edition w/ Huntdeck and put my MBHDSport 35 on it. My MB has dual SS Exhaust and I would entertain the idea of upgrading to the Mikuni single carb. Does anyone out there have this setup or one similar? I am interested in hearing about the performance of this rig and any suggestions you might have.

If it has round chimes it will be slow and draft more water but will turn better.

Re: WANTED! GatorTrax MB Edition Review
I have a 1750 guide edition with a hunt deck, which is the same boat without floatation. MB35 with single carb and dual exhaust. By myself I can run right at 28, with trolling motor, battery and gear with 2 guys, 25-26. Hunting set up, blind, gear, 2 guys and dog, 24-25. I have no complaints with the boat or the motor. It does what I needed and wanted it to do.

Not sure where you're located, but if ya close enough to make the ride this Saturday, ya can see my 1644 GD (close as ya gonna get to a GTB) in deep water, shallow water & pure mud.

Re: WANTED! GatorTrax MB Edition Review
I am running the same set-up as chocalate head and getting the same numbers. I like my GT boat and have run it head to head with other boats round/square/taped chine of similar size and it holds it own no problem. It does better in the turns with no sliding due to the round chines.

Re: WANTED! GatorTrax MB Edition Review
Thanks for the feedback ya'll! I am considering the Gator Trax 1750 or a custom builder (i.e. Uncle J or another).
BTW, I am outside of Tyler TX.

Re: WANTED! GatorTrax MB Edition Review
I have owned 1644 Gatortrax and 1650 Gatortrax boats, both with Hunt Deck. The 44 wide boat was a speed demon, but too narrow for my liking for hunting in the boat. IMO the 50 is the perfect GT width (I have also owned a 54 wide GT without hunt deck). The higher sides on the 50 give peace of mind if you are running big water.
I run my boats at 2100 feet elevation. That robs a motor of power and speed versus running at sea level. With stock 35 Sport Hyperdrive, my 1650 hunt deck ran at speeds of 25-26 with very light one man load, 19-21 with two guys hunting and a heavy load, and probably 17-19 with three guys, two dogs, dekes, blind, etc., etc.
I really liked my 1650 hunt deck Gatortrax. The only reason I sold it was that it was less than ideal with the 36 FPR Prodrive that I repowered with. The folks at Gatortrax are straight up to deal with and they will customize your boat any way you want it.
As has been mentioned, the round chine Gatortrax boats will turn on a dime at full speed in deep water without a thought to the boat breaking loose on you. They draft a tiny bit lower because of the round chines, but it is really not worth worrying about. They may also be a tad bit slower to jump up on plane for the same reason, but again, it is not worth worrying about.

Re: WANTED! GatorTrax MB Edition Review
I have a Gator Trax 1750 Hunt Deck with a Mud Buddy Black Death 5500. By myself I get 31 almost 32. Two guys and a hunting load 27-28. Three guys and hunting load 25-26 and this weekend I took out four guys, 100+ decoys, plus everything else you need to hunt and it ran a solid 24mph. It did take quite a bit longer to get out on plane though but I was amazed it even got out.
If you have the room, go with the 1750. I think it's the perfect size duck boat and extremely comfortable to hunt out of.
