 Frozen throttle cable
Hello guys,
Went out Saturday and the temp was 25. Started the motor while boat was still on trailer and every thing was fine. Backed boat in water, loaded up, started up and when I pushed the throttle lever, it was frozen.
I searched MMT and saw a suggestion to inject antifreeze into the cable. Anyone else have any suggestions to keep the throttle cable from freezing?
THANKS, David

 Re: Frozen throttle cable
That's the best way for any moisture trapped in the cable, or so I have read.

 Re: Frozen throttle cable
I hear WD40 helps a lot too. I have had this problem before and its not fun to deal with.. the best way to get it inside your cable is to get an air compressor and a small piece of hose that will fit over your throttle cable, then just clamp it down and spray WD40 in the hose, then force it down with the compressed air of the compressor. I hear that works, and is relatively easy..
ETA- Oh yeah, and add a little grease at both ends where the cable comes out of the cover and that will help not allow moisture inside the cover.

 Re: Frozen throttle cable
Do what I do, poor hot coffee on the cable.
At least this worked last season when my throttle froze in 19F temps.

 Re: Frozen throttle cable
Not to jack your thread or be an arse, but why not kill the engine before wrecking the boat?
