 What is the fastest combo
I am looking at some surface drives but don't know too much about them. I have a regular mudboat with a Subaru motor in it right now. The gator tail looks like a good one and it has reverse. The mudbuddy has alot of power. I don't like the fact that the pro-drive has to rachet around to go in reverse. What would be the fastest boat motor combo. I kind of like the gator tail with a Pro-drive boat. Also what about motor mods for more speed? What speeds should I be able to get.

Re: What is the fastest combo
They all are similar in speed and all can be modded to different levels.
Pro Drive will have a "Quick Reverse" out in another couple months. It wont have to be racheted around.

Re: What is the fastest combo
-nothing "stock", 35/36hp, I know of that will outperform/outrun a GTR/GTBoat combo like they're 1840 or 1846. (same for hotrod motor combos)
-I could be in reverse and moving in 3 seconds. Much better than push poling for HOURS, unless you enjoy push poling. FPR saved me many times!

Re: What is the fastest combo
if all u are worried about is speed, be preparred to spend lots of money and get ur feeling hurt. i've seen too many times the guys who listen to a salesman who says "u don't need fpr when u got full powered forward", "neutral is over-rated', or sum other dumb comment like " it takes 2 minutes to put it in reverse " and then they sell them sum overweight, overgadgeted, overthought tank of a boat that may run fair on top end, but is a pig in the mud. happens more than u think.
demo rides are free from the various mudmotor dealers and that's probly the best way to go see which one works best for u. it's gonna cost $12,000-15,000 bucks for a rig, so make a informed decision.
if u want speed u need to swap dat subaru out with a 383 v-8 stroker with a sdg style outdrive. as long as u can afford the maintenance on it, it will be the fastest mudboat in town!!!!!!
