Post MB 35 hunter Grizzly 1654 tracker Mod-v
MM Brand: Mud buddy
Horsepower: 35
Boat Brand: Tracker
Boat Size: 1654
Boat Layout: Mod-V

Speeds | Shallow Water: N/A
Speeds | Deep Water: 26mph on GPS
Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Me (220) 2 batteries, 12 gallons gas, trolling motor
Conditions Tested In: Calm

Comments:

I'm happy with it for now. Planes very fast even with all the weight in the back. Haven't used the boat for hunting since I got the motor (<1 hour run time) so I don't know how well it carries a load yet. Water was very deep due to recent storms, so no speeds in shallow water.

Ran it through tules that only had about 2 feet sticking up (about a 300 yard stretch of them) never slowed down a tick where my honda outboard would have jumped off the transom.

The difference between WFO and 3/4 throttle is only about 2 mph and alot of noise, so I'll save the gas/wear and tear and run her at 24mph.

Had to launch in the parking lot because it was so flooded. About 100 yards through the water until it was deep enough to launch boat. Didn't want to try running the boat through here though because it's an asphalt parking lot with curbs, signs and all kinds of steel shit.

EDIT:
Ran it today with a heavy load-
5 dozen duck dekes
2 dozen honker floaters
2 dozen full bodies
2 blind bags
2 layout blinds
2 rolls grass mats
1 extra person
+ all of yesterdays load

Results: ran her through a flooded cow field, hardpack clay bottom about knee deep. Got on plane in about 4-5 seconds and topped out at about 18-20mph. (No GPS) Very happy with the load carrying ability.

Thanks for the report. I'm looking at either this exact rig or maybe the 1754 instead. Do you have any pics of your set up? I'd love to see what you've done. Thanks!

I would get the 1754 if you're going to get a grizzly. I don't really have any photos of mine, but here's one of the lights and powerdrive trolling motor. I really like this motor for picking up dekes. It has the remote control so you can just have the boat follow you around while you wrap cord and throw them in the boat. I'll take a photo tomorrow.

Thanks looking forward to seeing another pic. Do you have a gun box or any other accessories installed?

Haha, maybe I'll get a blind for the bed and paint the truck camo

Added a mikuni carb last night. Runs like a whole new motor! Still have to tune out a bit of hesitation on the idle circuit, but it ran a consistent 28mph in the deep. I can ride right on the rev limiter, so I trimmed it down a bit to 4200 rpm with no difference in speed. I cruised through some mud covered with about a foot of water and it picked up to 29-29.5 mph briefly.

This is with myself (210), 10 gallons fuel, 75lb plywood floor I just installed, 2 batteries, trolling motor, and 2 rods and some tackle. (pretty much empty)

I really like the setup now. I don't know how well it carries a load since the season is over, but I think it will do just fine. I'm going to work the heads and add some pitch to the prop or regear to keep it off the limiter.
