 Longtail Load Question
Hello everyone!!!
My name is Jeff Nelson and this is basically my 1st post and I would like to introduce myself.
I live in Tarpon Springs FL and I am a duck-aholic. (Seriouly I am and after this season I am going to group threapy!)
I am mostly a Diver Duck hunter!!
We'll thats my quick run down; off to my question!
I have a Custom Xpress 1544 with a 25hp Go-devil long tail and a hunt deck. The floor has been removed, A Ron Hill 9x7 prop and a few little other extra's here and there.
My question right now is I am hauling close to 200 Decoys. my better half at 140 pounds Myself 280 pounds, Gear and a Lay out boat. With this everyday load I am moving around 16mph on the GPS. I plan on next year added a 2nd layout boat to this load and its aound 70 extra pounds with everything.........
I am wondering if I add the 2nd layout boat what will happen to my profromance. Will I still be able to get around 15mph? will this be to much for this set up? I still like the fact that I can run all day long over sand in about 4 inches of water and would like to keep it close to this.

 Re: Longtail Load Question
I think you'll be alright if you balance your weight in the boat. What kinda layout boat are you using that is only 70 lbs?

 Re: Longtail Load Question
MLB Classic and a Homemade one that my buddy made.
I guess what I could do is load my boat up with the one layout boat and toss my 105 pound dog in the boat and see what happens.......

 Re: Longtail Load Question
the boat ran good with me you the wife and a few deeks in it jeff! Also you thought about just towing it? the towing weight would be much less with it just floating on the water.

 Re: Longtail Load Question
Damn you got that thing loaded down lol Id be more worried about sinking than the performance. Just toss it in and see. Also if your running in alot of sand your performance is def gona drop. Running in sand is like putting a grinder to your prop.
