Post 30.2 Mph...
I jus tired the new 10x7 hill marine prop that i bought and is shocked at the numbers the GPS had on it! 30.2 Mph...... I cant believe it, I was running 25mph with the 10x6 (Go-devil brand prop)! Has anyone ever seen that much of a difference in speed with a different brand prop :?:

i ain't callin bs. I've seen a slightly modded 31 run 25+ mph on a 1644. i could see reaching 30 with your longer narrower boat, a few mods, and the right prop. I'd be interested in the performance in the mud too. If nothing else, run that prop on fishing trips. what was the rpm difference between the two props.

Don't doubt it. EVT modded my 24 hp longtail and I could hit 24 mph with just me.

My GTR23 rig went 30 in slide one time. And one time I move my hand held real fast in a forward motion and went 40.

I'd like to go ride beside you and see that speed sometime. Did hill marine just start making a 7/8'' prop? or did you have it custom made?
and all you have on your motor is exhaust?

When I changed out my old worn down prop to a Ron Hill 9x5 on my 16hp GDLT I easily doubled my speed. I was going no more than about 8 MPH and never got on plane before the new prop. Then I put on the new prop and I've hit 17-18mph with it (empty) and it actually gets on step now. So yes, I can see it making that big of a difference. The only draw back to going larger pitch is it doesnt do as good in the mud, but the top end more than makes up for it.

I'm still calling bullchit. That must have been a spike on the gps, what's it running consistently?

Most ppl aren't getting 30.2 from their surface drive, and that's with a 12" prop and a faster gear ratio. It would take video proof, of probably more than one GPS to make me believe this.

so what about the prop? did you have it custom made? i dont see a 7/8" prop for sale on the website. Also you dont have a stock motor, you have exhaust. That's propbably a 1 - 1.5 h.p gain. How much does your boat weigh? Im just really curious how to achieve that kind of speed
