Post MB HD Mini 35
Anyone run/running one? Looking at replacing my 27PD with one on my 1648 Gator-Trax before the duck killing season begins.

Just interested to see what people think.

Only big changes i can think of from the regular 35 would be the shaft angle but what do i know...im just some guy... :geek:

The mini, or LA Special, has a shorter belt drive, standard 32" outdrive, and will dig a little deeper than a Sport with a 27" shaft, plus it's a little lighter.

yeah if you think about the geometry of the motor i wonder how much farther back the prop really is from the actual transom. You are going to loose some of that 32" shaft in the angle created by the higher kickoff point.

I would assume they were forced to create the longer shaft one to correct the steeper angle that would be created by the shorter belt and resulting higher kickoff point and two to make sure that it actually got back at least as far as the 27" would with a normal angle.

As far as digging deeper again i question how much deeper you can actually get this motor. If you think about the 5" gained by the longer shaft you also have to factor in the inches lost by the shorter belt and higher kick point.

Im no engineer and 7th grade geometry was a long time ago but if i had to guess you are more than likely realistically gaining 1"-3" both in distance from transom to prop and how much deeper you can get the prop when trimming down.

That being said as long as it runs as good as the normal 35 and is a bit lighter im all for it...just trying to put some food for thought.

Hopefully someone will get one soon and put up a good review.

Not to sound like an azz, but digging in an extra 1-3" can make alot of difference sometimes. How about some videos instead of reviews. Each of these are 35 Minis, Chops had some mods done to his, so it's got more hp, but still the same frame.

This is in no way supposed to be a GT vs MB deal, these are just the vids I have available. They will be alot less offensive to some guys if you turn down the volume.
