Post new boat and motor setup question
looking to buy a tracker 1648 grizzly all welded boat. i have a 08 mud buddy 31 hp with trim and clutch so the weight 260 about is that to much motor for that boat. so im looking for people that has or had similar setup.

The price tags on the grizzlys make em temptin don't they. If I was u id go with a hull made for a mm. I had an alumacraft with an lt on it and it was nice, besides the ribbed bottom, bracing, etc. It will work but ud be a lot happier with a mm specific hull. Bud of mine bought a 18 foot grizzly for his black death 4500 bout 4 months ago and 2 weeks ago bought a gatortrax hull.

transom height is what you have to worry about for being close to takin on water.

I would strongly suggest against the tracker grizzly's, the ribbed mod-v bottom is far from ideal for a mudmotor.

The "v" sticks down and will plow into the bottom when you run shallow, the ribs do the same thing.

They also cause more drag and hurt your top end speed.

A good plan imo, watch this sight for folks upgrading to custom hulls. Happens more than you think, had my motor 2 weeks and saved alot a cash when a member sold a boat only to upgrade. Now I have peace of mind not settling for a "get by hull" and trust me soon as you get out there your gonna have that nawin in your noggin and spend for a mm hull asap if you go the grizzly rout.

A 1648 will work, plenty of 1644 GD's running 35 hp sd motors.
