Need info on a 25 prodrive performance
I hunt an area that has a 25hp limit so I have been wondering about a 25pd on a 1748 pd boat? Would that carry 3ppl and gear(600lbs in meat and 150lb in b.s.) at a decent speed and get on plane at a relatively decent pace? I know there are some upgrades on these motors but the more I read about those the motors turn into bombs basically, so would a simple upgrade help this kind of situation?

Re: Need info on a 25 prodrive performance
There's plenty of mods for the kohlers. Do a google search for cub cadet tractor pulling. They don't build huge hp with simpler mods like the briggs motors, but they hold up well. And pretty much all the same stuff is available as what is out there on the briggs. On the 25 some simple mods, are just to put the parts from the 30 on them. Example: heads, carb, intake, etc. The 25 supposedly produce more power than the 30 when adding those parts. Think it has something to do with the cam. Anyway, there's lot of stuff out there. And lots of stuff that your motor actually comes assembled with, so you don't have to worry bout building a grenade.

Re: Need info on a 25 prodrive performance
Thanx CB Stump, I will be in some GTr's and running a few rivers looking in some shallow hardwood flooded bottoms. I am worried about keeping an outboard cleave and trash free hence the mudmotor. I don't know how well an 1848 would get around in the woods. ...

Re: Need info on a 25 prodrive performance
If da woods aren't thick enough to be concerned with a 4' bottom then you won't have trouble with an 18' boat vs. 17'. I spend more time in thick woods during 1 crawfish season than most hunters do in a lifetime and I wouldn't have nuthin less than a 20' skiff.
Good luck!

I wouldn't go less than an 18x48. Can you even get a new 25 PD? Maybe a used one if you can find one.

X2 on what Stumpy said, he puts more hrs in afew yrs then some guys will in a lifetime......18ft or nothing......... Kohler has aton of stuff, checkout http://www.midwestsupercub.net/... from 30hp heads to carbs and cams, your 25hp could be pushing 35plus very easily with just a few easy mods.................my .02

If your restricted to 25 and mod the motor in any way that is noticeable, you will still get fined if checked.

Re: Need info on a 25 prodrive performance
25 is 25. Heads and the carb off a 30 won't b noticed. If u add an aftermarket exhaust u will get a fine at some point, because everyone can tell it ain't original. Play it right and u will b ok.

Re: Need info on a 25 prodrive performance
Skip seems to have gotten his shit together but I'd still have a hard time dealin with them again. He had a lot of family stuff goin on when I was putting my motor together, but still..
Midwest super cub is who I would order stuff like heads from or the 30 carb if you chose to go that route. I would stick with evt if you get to lookin' for a cam. The one's the tractor guys use are a lil too agressive for your needs
