 disasembly on a mud buddy
started taking the mud buddy apart today to replace the bearings and i am just trying to make sure there is no special order to get the shaft out and then once the shaft is out do the bearing housings just thread off the shaft housing or are they permantently attached to the housing and how are you supposed to get the damn prop off im guessing that it threads on to the shaft ??? never done this before and just dont wanna add more trouble and problems to my original problems of just replacing bearings any help is appreciated

Re: disasembly on a mud buddy
this is alongtail right? i dunno how exactly nudbuddys are put together but it should be very straightfirward. shouldnt even have to take the prop off to remove shaft. on most longtails its just a set screw at the u-joint holding the shaft in. remove that set screw and it should come out. as far as the bearing houses it may be threaded on or possibly welded.. for that i dont know what mudbuddy does.

Re: disasembly on a mud buddy
On a go devil long tail the bearing assembly on top and the seals on bottom are threaded on to the shaft tube. You might need a slide hammer that you can thread on where the prop goes. Pop it a couple times and the shaft should come right out. If its hanging up on the bottom seal, unscrew it and let it come off with the shaft. worry about getting it off the shaft once its out of the shaft tube. Make sure the key is not in the shaft keyway before pulling it through.

Re: disasembly on a mud buddy
Best bet is to go to mud buddy's web sight and go to the forum and ask the experts. I've never replaced the shaft, but they will help. http://www.mudbuddy.com/forum/forum.php
