 23 hp Longtail
I'm lookin for some reviews on a 23 lt and search wasnt much help.
I'm thinkin about puttin one on my frame and gettin another boat before I destroy this one.
Sooo here are my questions.
1. Will the 23 plane out with three 180 lb men and light gear, at what speeds and size hull did it take?
2. People say a 16x44 and 23 lt is the most common mudboat out there, yet ive never seen a review, how do they perform?

 Re: 23 hp Longtail
I had a 1544 and with three guys it sucked. With two people it was good but add a 3rd and it dropped drastically. My 1748 that I run now is a way better performer. With three people and hunting gear it isn't the fastest but it does get on plane. Last teal season the gps said with three people 1 guy at 220 and 2 at 180 with gear we were running 13 mph. Hope this helps

 Re: 23 hp Longtail
I run a 24hp longtail on a 1644 GD boat. It will get on step with 3 people and light gear, but it is not fast. I am seeing speeds in the 10-12 mph range with 3 guys and bowfishing gear, and even then your weight has to be arranged correctly. Obviously too much weight up front and it will plow and loose even more speed. I have a 9x7 prop on it now, but I will soon be getting a 9x6.
Hope this helps.

That's a great scout boat set up right there. Light and quick so you can zip in and out of sloughs

 Re: 23 hp Longtail
I've got a 1442 and I all the time find myself wantin more boat.
Thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of a 17x42 should fit my needs.

 Re: 23 hp Longtail
Just thought I'd mention it, rather see it go to someone on here, the motor is will be up for sale soon. He's probably gona want a more than $1500, the thing is brand new, it still had the paint on the muffler last time I saw it. Know where your coming from, just did the same replacing the motor on a frame we came across. Good luck with the upgrade.

 Re: 23 hp Longtail
I have a 16x38 gd boat w/ 23 lt, reached 21.7 in 8 inches of water w/ me (175 lbs) & my cousin (150 lbs). It pushes good, but would love to squeeze a 27 lt on the back just for when i load it down for alligator & hunting season.
