 Re: looking for crabbing advice
you'll see water everywhere after you cross the intercoastal, nothing but cattle marshes out there. Once you past out of Pecan Island on HWY 82 rollover will be on your left. If you launch there go down the canal and when it makes a dogleg the wier on your right usually produces a bunch of craps. If you keep going down the canal until you hit the bayou on your left will be another weir with a walkway across the backside that usually holds alot of shrimp.
If you decide to go to Grand Chenier to Josephs Harbor you need to take a left at the T in the canal and go to the first canal on your left and go past the gas plant and it will be the next canal on your left that is called the mudhole weir. It usually holds alot of crabs but not many shrimp.
In both places you will be fighting gators all day though. depending on the tides cast for some reds with shrimp. Personally I would go to Rollover because its easier to guide your way through there if youve never been down there. the other reason I like it is cause its only 2 miles from my camp.

Our camp (myself Slambin, and others) in Pecan island is 1 mile east of Rollover Bayou. When we go crabbing we have a boat loaded down with gear, Mostly dat beer, and we have a good ole time. You may catch alot or you may not. At least you out there having fun and telling lies with your buddies!

 Re: looking for crabbing advice
well i think i did pretty good for a beginer or is that beginers luck. Caught 10 lb. shrimp maybe 30-40 ct. thats a guess. Crabs were average size but had some nice ones. Launched at the locks which i think is Joseph harbor went left and right of tee hit most of flood gates. Caught at most of them but the first one the left did the best. Had some MM fun running WOT down a cut and heard motor lug down let off to see what was wrong found out i was in six inches of water with my bow rope in the prop. Thats what i seen pass me up. A little grinding and the GTR was going again. Good time in all plan to return soon.
