 gear reduction
Im looking into gettin a small LT 9hp -12hp range. I see that MB makes a couple gear reduction models. Im told that it enables u to run a larger prop, resulting in better performance out of a smaller MM. What do u guys think,, im trying to keep the weight down but i need to be able to push myself over a log or stump if i get high centered,,i dont care about speed at all. Im am outfittin a 14/36 weldbuilt crawdad .080. Seems to me you would loose in rpms at the prop but gain pitch with the larger prop,, would u just end up back were u started..any body runnin one

 Re: gear reduction
I have the 12 gear red. on a war eagle 436 and it pushes fine. Had to go over a tree on its maiden voyage 2 adults and a 12 yr old. It would almost plane out put I needed to mess with the trim tab to get the motor up more.

 Re: gear reduction
In the paper work it says 120, but who knows? As I bought it as a package for a great price, like half off.

 Re: gear reduction
No, 120 is exactly what I meant!! He asked about weight not thickness.

 Re: gear reduction
actualy the bottom is a little over 3/4 in thick,,,lol,, my bad,,,,seems like if you go much past a 9hp you might as well go on to a 23,,,the weight is about the same
