 24 hp BTLT speed prob
I just bought a 24 hp BTLT, and it is on a 1648 legend craft with floors. I have 4 batteries, one cooler, 2 people (190 & 220), 10 gallons of gas and my top speed I can hit is 13-14. Does this seem way to slow? Also It is a tall transom boat, and I know that the angle of the shaft entering the water may have something to do with it. My prop is also knifed edged, so will a new prop give me any more speed? Any help is great, thx.

Cut the transom down, get a new prop, pour 4 gallons of gas on ant beds in the yard, leave 2 batteries in the shed, give the plywood floors to a hobo, and find skinnier friends.
You may be able to get 18/19

Re: 24 hp BTLT speed prob
Cause I like being able to stop on a dime and not have water come in the back of the boat and she is brand new almost. 2 for 24volt trolling motor, one to start motor, one to run all lights

Re: 24 hp BTLT speed prob
what kind of lights you running to need a seperate battery?? i would at least use the same battery for engine and lights, that engine battery should allways have a full charge (if the engine has a charding system)

Re: 24 hp BTLT speed prob
Yes, it has a small charging system.
Since there are no electrical componets (clutches, trim, ect.) for the battery to run, the only time the motor draws battery is when you start it.
The rest of the time you are charging the battery, it won't keep up with much more than nav. Lights and a spotlight though.
