Post Just Bought a GO DEVIL 35 VAN LongTail.. Need Adivce.
Just bought a rig that came with a 35 LT GoDevil.

Need to address 2 issues.

1. How to secure motor when going down the road. (No Swivel Bracket). Ratchet straps aren't holding my confidence.

2. Is there a thumb throttle or something better than the little "ball" throttle?

New to mud motors. Very seasoned with hunting and boats.

Thanks in advance for help.

I have a strap across the back of the boat that holds the boat on the trailer and holds the motor down. I then have two bungie cords running from each side of the boat and hooked onto the motor. It's not the best but it works. As far as throttle some guys use a bicycle break lever u should be able to do a search on here and find something about it

Does it not bounce real bad?

When using the strap across the boat method, wrap the strap around the handle of the motor one time. This will keep the handle suspended. It will bob up and down 6 inches to 1 foot, but you want there to be a little bounce to take the stress off the motor when you hit a bump in the road.

We always used the trailer strap and made a wrap around the handle and it held them very well. The guys I know with GDSD's still tie theirs down that way.

If that is the case then we already have it mastered. Just hoping there was a motor support like one that you use on an outboard to prop the motor up and hold it in place.

Check out pages 5 and 6 (labeled 2 and 3) - for tiedown....

I added a second loop on my floor rope which held the handle
slightly lower than the gunnels and when the second tie rope is
applied it holds it secure with just a lil bit of movement on the
bigger bumps and keeps the prop up high....
