Do you check the lower unit oil on the new PD's the same as the old lower units? I see the new silver plug but I think that is a grease fitting. I would assume just level out the motor, undo a top screw and see if oil is at that mark? Should I also look at the bottom plug for any reason?
Also, should I give all the grease fittings a couple pumps? I heard that some of the fittings might not actually be used depending on shaft length. Mine is a long shaft with reverse and hydro trim.
I'm always worried about the shaft/clutch rusting because I don't spray anything like Corrosion X under that vinyl cover. Should I?
My problem is that I have a old PD manual that doesn't show all the grease points ie: the reverse plate. I will call PD next week and get one (assuming there is one) but if someone has an electronic version they could email me that would be great.
