Re: All you folks out there
I'm in the same boat as you brad, unfortunately I have to be responsible for a little, and put off teal season in order to make duck season that much sweeter. Have to get some things online first in other words, plus I have to work.

Re: All you folks out there
No. I was in my boat. I had a buddy in a stump field who watched it ran up on a stump and rolled the boat in 4' of water 30 minutes before light

Re: All you folks out there
Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, this is an all too common theme. Not enough freeboard on the sides and transom to handle a roll up on a stump. I rolled up on one Sat and all was good. It's almost better to cruise through stump field fast enough to be able to carry the boat up and over. It's the slow rollers that get you.

Re: All you folks out there
This is a good read for folks wanting to know whether or not to go w/ tall sides or short. Can happen w/ the taller boats but not as bad. Also agree w/ dg. He ain't saying WAO but moving enuf to not hang up. Gonna be a lot of stump hitting this year.

Re: All you folks out there
I find it demonstrates how weekend warriors are the reason stupid shit like this happens. But flat out some people shouldn't own a surface drive just stick to the boat lanes. Tall sides don't help you only 2'-3' make the biggest contribution for safety with rolling a boat. And ftr always get tall sides and transoms being cheap only leaves you somewhere you don't want to be!

Re: All you folks out there
There are two stumps in the west channel of fuselier south of the pipeline on IndiAn Bayou WMA that are widow makers. Stay in the center of channel. They are exposed now so not too dangerous but couple more feet of water and you will not see them. There's another at the pipeline itself that I rolled up on, too. Why the Corp doesn't mark these with nav markers is negligence in my opinion.

Re: All you folks out there
I run them all the time. Tall sides are a must but your best defense is if you ride up on one get on the gas and get over it. If your scared of hurting your hull and let off your gonna be high centered or take on water. Stay on the gas.

Re: All you folks out there
We hunted a stump field last year, and ran wide open all the time. That way WHEN, not if, we hit a pretty good size one, we would jump the thing, instead of getting hung up and taking in water. It didn't take the dog long to learn to stay her ass in the middle of the boat instead on the deck either
