 Homemade Longtail
I am making a LT and have everything ready to go beside the lower bearing housing. I have two ideas of doing it.
1. I bought a pipe fitting thats 1 by 1 1/2 reducing, I would than weld the 1" side to the shaft housing and insert bearing in 1 1/2" side put a couple seals in and than a cap with a 3/4" hole.
2. Just find a pipe with a ID of 1 3/4" so the bearing snug, weld it onto the shaft housing, the other end machine threads in and have a couple seals and a cap with a 3/4" hole.
What do you all think would be better?
Any other ideas?
Thanks

Bronze bushings and seals. You would be amazed the variety of sizes they make.

 Re: Homemade Longtail
you need a bearing housing at the top, seal housing at the bottom. nothing big for your seal housing just something to keep em in place.
