Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
Check with sammyc. He runs a 16x44 round chine with a MB4000. Runs great and turns like a bass boat. Carries 3 plus gear really well but drops to low 20's if you add a 4th person

Re: Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
I have 1644 with 27gdsd. Running just above 22 with a smoked prop. Would have liked a larger motor but finances just didn't allow it at the time. It will be modded after season is over. Like the round chines too. Will turn on a dime and its just the right size for my use. Usually hunt solo. 2nd gd boat and 3rd gd motor for me. I've been very satisfied with their product.

Re: Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
I have an 18'44'' GD round chine hull with a 35 modded GDSD. Turns on a dime. Don't have the sliding affect in water like a tapered or square chine. It does sit about 1 or 2 inches lower than a square chine. In the small cuts it shines. Plus in the timber you don't get hung up on cypress knees as easily. It allows them to slide off.

Re: Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
That'll be a heavy boat. The 1844 with split bench would be the boat I would get if I bought new. I gained quite a bit of room when I went from a LT to the SD. The LT is in the boat vs the SD being on the transom.
Pic was when I had the LT on it and the gas tank is now under front deck. (Pulled the foam out)

Re: Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
Mine is a 1644 with all the flotation removed. It does awesome w three guys and gear. Four and it doesn't want to plane out. One Guy had to sit on top of pirogue on front deck to get it to plane. Turns on a dime and I have a 35 MB w exhaust and mikuni. Did not run well w my GDSD at all. MB was a better match to the boat.

Re: Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
If you remove the flotation you cut a hole and dig it out...
My old boat
You can drill the rivets out and pull out the foam in the floor and replace if your buying a used boat. I removed the foam from the floor in the boat pictured above and it was all dry. It was a 2000 model.
And then you can do like SammyC and take a grinder with a cutting wheel and remove the two rear pods on the sides.
I thought about removing the pods in mine but I do get some use from them...

Re: Who runs a Godevil round chine with surface drive
i run a gd 1656 hunting model/round chines & a gtr35 tiller. really like it/works well for me in southeast LA. only complaint is hunting 3 people - gets tight. if i changed anything, i'd get 18', but unsure of width; i originally thought 44, but a few people i know have been going wider - 60" (but on a gtail hull) and love 'em.
