What device do y'all use if you need to winch and there's nothing to hook up to?

An anchor is about your only option. Throw it as far as ya can and pull yourself to it. Throw it as far as ya can again and keep on pullin.

pair of 5 foot 2x4s and a sledge + that anchor + 3 or 4 4 foot pvc rollers for oysters and rock

A anchor will not work in soft mud!But this will  Never had to use it but I did see one in action! winch 001.JPG

Pull Pall came out about 13 years or go when I was really big into 4x4. It worked well
I'm with Jimmy seen it work in some crazy situations!
