 new owner of a sd
I bought a used mud buddy last week and yesterday was my first time out with it ive had a longtails for years only thing that comes to mind is WOW it isn't even close to handling the same way!! First question is when I trim it down the damn steering handle is almost pointing straight up I called the place where I bought it this morning n he said its because I have it on a regular Jon boat and not a mud boat said transoms are different angle anyone else have this problem and is there a fix other than buying a different hull??

1) in all honesty that is a good thing. The further the motor leans back the deeper the prop gets in the mud and the better it will dig out, that is unless you are using this motor in a hard bottom area.
2) Some of the MB frames have stop bolts that can be adjusted. Do you know what frame you have? or can you post a pic of it?
3) If the frame doesnt have an ajustable stop bolt, MB offers what they call a shim, but in all actuality it is a wedge that can be bolted inbetween the motor and the transom to change the angle........But again, I cant think of a single case where as you wouldnt want the prop to get as deep in the mud as possible (unless it is a hard bottom).

All of thier short shaft motors have "HD" stamped in the frame, but there are 5 different frames/models of the HD (hyperdrive) available. Can you snap a pic of it?

Looks like you have a Hyper Sport... is your hand bolts loose so the handle floats...? I know I like mine all the way to the lowest setting... but I like the handle to float up and down when I hit stuff... not too loose... just so you can push the handle up and down...
