That is the question. Wife and I got into an argument if she was a pet or hunting dog because I keep her in the kennel inside. So she thinks the dog is a pet because of that. Crazy I tell you!

Both. Depends on the day/mood/situation. In Texas summer heat, mine is always inside. If he pisses me off any other time of year, his ass is out. But he is my buddy, and luckily I've got a dog that can turn on and off, so he is only 100mph in the field. Some dogs need isolation when they're not training/hunting and some dogs don't. Which is yours?

If she hunts, then she's a hunting dog that should prolly receive a little more discipline than a pet. What's where you put her in the kennel have to do with it???

My point, but wife doesn't understand that Haha. To me as long as my dog is doing what she needs to do and was trained to do where she sleeps is just a perk.

My lab and shorthair live inside w/ us. I only kennel them to & from hunting in the car. During the day they go out and live in the yard. I've always believed that dogs live and thrive alot better when they don't have to live outside.

Both my lab and Cur dog's stay in the house. They both have crates they sleep in.

Sleep in crates at the foot of my bed. Watch TV on Orvis beds and even ride in the back of my wife's car. Older one hunts great. I'll tell you about the pup next season when he gets back from college. My hunting dogs and my wife's pets.

I tried the inside thing and it didn't work... not training or anything... but the coats just didn't hold up to the extream cold we have... so now I have runs outside they are covered and the kennels are butted up to a shed with dog boxes inside... straw and a mud flat for the winter and we pair them togther... they are loose in the backyard when we are home but at night the kennels are shut and locked... when we get back from hunts they dogs get to come inside and laydown by the couch... about a hour before dark we move them to the mud room which is 20degree cooler for a hour and then out they go... went temps drop below 0 they come in the house at night and outside during the day... since we started doing this with our labs there coats hold up hunting... now the chessie we have doesn't matter she can handle the extream temps no matter if she lived outside or inside...

one of my best hunting partners has a out of this world FT breed dog and is one of the best hunting dogs I have been around but lives inside right under the fire place... his coat sucks and my friend has to take towels on hunts to dry off the dog... and he still gets cold... dog does the work but IMHO doesn't want to when its late Dec and Jan...

Yea very interesting, being in Louisiana we don't see constant extreme colds like that but is something to keep in mind. Thanks for sharing

Our 2 labs run the house. They sleep on our King size bed with us and during the day they probally sleep on the couch or one of their many dog beds. I also have a heated garage for them so when they are we from hunting they can stay their and drie off... very spoiled

I am actually surprised by how many people's labs live inside with them. If it weren't for the constant shedding mine would stay inside but I can't stand the dog hair everywhere. I do let him in for a littl while in the afternoon during the summer to cool off a little but thats about it.

I ended up putting all wood floors in last year just because it was a pain to keep up on the vacumeing. Now I just take a dust mop around the house everyday and it works awesome.. I try to tell them no to shed so much but they don't listen to well.

Got yellow labs because the hair matches the floor better.

The shedding sucks indeed. I too tried the slow down on the shedding but I think it made her shed more! But not having carpet makes it a lot easier to deal with.

My lab is mostly a pet, but we've started dock dog jumping recently. he stays inside all the time. Now I have 2 because of fostering a yellow female/ Shedding is a problem but I have hardwood floors and tile.

I looked for a vacuum for bare floors and this was the best one I could find. Those with dogs inside may want to look into it.

My springer gets to roam the house as he pleases as he is a retired hunting dog at age two due to an illness. My lab stays inside overnight, does whatever she pleases, spoiled as well. During the day I have a kennel that she can either stay outside in that, or walk through the garage dog door and stay in her crate in the garage. Works out well. For those of you that don't like the dog hair get the dyson pet vaccuum. First time vaccuum with your old one, then go through with the dyson and you will hug yourself! Your wife might hug and do other things to you as well!!!!

Mine are spoiled rotten. They have the whole basement to themselves. Dog beds, couch, and woodstove. Hell, I've considered moving down there some days.

Let me make a wild guess...............You ain't been married long? How bout the cap on the toothpaste? How you fold over the bread wrapper instead of putting the little clip on the bag? Trust me, after 38 years all these things will pass.

haha yea, april will make two years, so eary in the marriage. Lucky for me she isnt to picky just loves to give me a hard time. Gotta love em

My new yellow lives out side!!! has free range of the yard ,till the underground fence is reached, and at night she is put in her kennel locked up tight!!!!, Now my retired black lives in the house year round!!! I figure after all the years of great service she deserves it........

My dog started outside but weaseled her way inside the first time the weather turned cold and I had her kennel in my truck. It was a slow transition to inside all the time. My wife wanted no part of it but it didn't matter to me.

Now she gets on the recliner with me and the sofa with me and the wife. She has NEVER been allowed to enter our bedroom so that is the only place in the house that's off limits. She is well behaved and my wife cleans the hair.

My dogs are inside. Old lab sleeps in his bed in the living room. When he goes to bed he will not move till the next morning. Boykin sleeps next to my bed in her dog bed. Both get kenneled when no one is here. Ony issue is the shedding at times. They both go through a spring and fall heavy shedding period. But we have tile and wood floors so a couple minute pass through with the vac gets it up quick. I just use a small shop vac which is lite and with the extensions make it easy to get under furniture.

Rhonda had a roomba and a zoomba or what ever the hell those things were called,I just refered to them as her robot army. Well they worked great sweeping and mopping every night but I think Dixie just shed too much for them to handle over the long hull.

wife and i have a blood hound, my hunting lab, three taco dogs, and a weiner dog. they all live inside. kennel at night and when at work except for when its nice out they have the fenced in back yard. wouldnt have it any other way. unless its freezing or raining the big dogs are outside during the day. all my dogs are bums.
