 6.5 lt digs down
i have a 6.5 homemade longtail with i believe a 6.5x4 propeller. i am having problems with it wanting to dig down in the water instead of just below the surface. it will ride without having to hold it down but the prop is a good 4-6 inches under water. have messed around with bending the cavitation plate but havnt found the right way to bend it. just looking for some advice. thank you

 Re: 6.5 lt digs down
Try bendin her down (back inch of plate), if it dont help you may want to try cutting and repositioning or changing the entire cavitation plate's angle. remember water flowing over the plate pushes it down

 Re: 6.5 lt digs down
ok i will give it a try. are you saying basically that you want the back end of the plate to be lower than the front just a little so it will help keep water off the top.

 Re: 6.5 lt digs down
You can clamp onto the center of the cavitation plate with a cresant wrench and bend the whole plate towards the prop if you don't have a trim tab on the back. The cav plate will create lift when the water from the prop pushes off of it, if it wants to come out of the water and not stay in it bend it back down. Start with 1"-1/2" increments. You'll get it tuned in, just be patient. Good luck Scott

 Re: 6.5 lt digs down
i have bent the trim tab down almost past 45 degrees down and still wants to go to far under the water line. so i am planning on repositioning the whole plate. which way should i move the whole plate?

 Re: 6.5 lt digs down
not move plate, more change the angle of the whole plate you want it to be more horizontal than it is now
