Starting on my first LT build and I am confused as to whether or not the shaft housing is filled with oil, or the shaft just lubricated with greasable bushings/bearings. I have been looking through the forums for answers to alot of questions about this build, and have found alot of useful info.

just grease for the lontail. Well except for the motor of course.

Thanks go gogetter! i had read another persons build, and he filled his shaft housing with 50wt... Didn't seem right to me, but i figured I'd ask.

Most people just use grease, but gear oil works great too. If you run where the temps are well below freezing, you'll definitely appreciate gear oil over grease when you try to start it in the mornings. I know I've had to warm my tube with a propane torch more than once to be able to pull it when the temps are bitter.

I am running Mobil 1 synthetic grease in my mine. I am going to try one of those electric cords you wrap around outside pipes to keep them from freezing on my shaft housing if it gets too cold.
