I have a new 16hp gd lt and when running open water my cavitation plate is just below the water and runs fine. As soon as i hit grass it pops out and i have to force it down. It is not hard to do. Is this normal? My first longtail. Im scared if i adjust the cavitation plate it will be too deep in open water. Not sure if this is normal or not.

How fast are you going through the grass? What kinda grass are you talking about? If you go slow the grass will try to bunch up and pull the prop down.
Thick hydrilla will stop you if you try to go slow. Hit it wide open when the prop blows out the water just hold it down in the thicker stuff and let it eat!
