 hit something, then wouldnt start
Yesterday I was running across a hard bottom oyster bed and hit something really hard that kicked the prop out of the water. Probably a log or something. It caused the motor to stall and then when I tried to start it up it would run for about 15 seconds really rough and stall. After about 5 minutes it started and ran fine. I am just a little worried there is something I need to address or if yall have any ideas why this happened.

Had the same problem with my 18 all i could figure was a sudden shut down at WOT causes the motor to load up when trying to restart you could smell the unburnt fuel from the exhaust

Yeah, I did smell some fuel when I was cranking it because I was worried I had flooded it somehow. It acted like it wanted to stall when I would try to put the prop in the water. Could that switch that won't allow you to start it without the motor being level have gotten shook up from the impact?

It might have sheared a flywheel key, but I doubt it.

Re: hit something, then wouldnt start
I was scared that it had sheared a key at first. I assumed not after it ran the rest of the day without any further problems. I am sure I am worrying over nothing. It runs OK now. I just wondered if there was a common reason for the motor acting like it did.
