Post LT Gas Connection
I am running a GD LT 16HP Briggs. I have had problems with my motor getting enough gas. When I connect it to the Tank using the Factory Mercury Connection it seems not to pump up hard like it should. I have replaced my connection twice now. Once the Motor is running and I pump it up it runs OK until I kill it then, if I do not pump it up again it runs out of gas.

The reason for this rambling post is that I know my connection is bad and I am giving up on the Mercury two point connection. I am leaning toward a Chrysler/Suzuki connection that seems better made. Any Suggestions?

Get rid of all quick connects!

I had the same problem. It was a culmination of things... the quick connects, the tubing inside the tank was bad also. I had an electric fuel pump that was also bad, hole in the diaphragm. I went back to the stock FP. It was an easy fix. Replaced all the quick connects with hose clamps and tubing.

If you absolutely have to have quick connects get the yamaha ones. They have a bigger opening. I use them on all my outboards no matter what brand it is, but getting rid of the quick connects is the best idea.

Check to make sure you do not have any air getting into the system after the fuel tank. Also make sure vent cap on gas tank is open enough to vent and allow proper suction into fuel system. x2 on fuel pump and quick disconnects.

If you have a one way primer bulb in the line, try replacing it. I can't tell you the dozens I have gone through on both outboards and my longtail over the years. They are sometimes bad right out of the box.

I was going to replace my centrifugal pump with an electronic for the same reasons. I did some searching on here and got a little nervous about proper way to regulate pressure and not cause more harm than I would gain. It sounded to me like you need to keep constant pressure at about .5 psi. and of course have your pump tied into the key switch or a toggle. If someone with more background on how to do it correctly is out there please chime in. Hell, maybe it's as simple as a pump and a regulater and let r eat!!

I put on Suzuki Connects and it pretty much fixed the problem but I am still interested in the Electric Pump idea. Can someone post a link and recommend one?
