Just got my new Longtail. Its an 07 Beavertail 27hp on a 1448 alumacraft. The motor has 220 hours on it and everything appears to be ok on it. Have to wait till next weekend to try it out cause of the weather but im thinkin it should push the heck out of my boat. What yall think about it?

Pods really aren't intended to help for running on plane, they are to help draft a heavy motor.

Yeah i dont feel to bad seein as its 4200 brand new. I just wish it wont freakin rainin today all imma think about all week is waitin on next saturday to get here so i can go ride. Ill have speed numbers and all tgat next weekend.

I just bought an 09 same motor for 2500. So don't feel bad. Let me know how it does. I plan on putting mine on a 1542 alumacraft.

Yeah ten 4 ill def post some numbers as soon as i can get some. The boy i bought it from had it on a 1448 just like mine and he said it ran like a scalded dog so we will see.

All right the week is over i got the boat cleaned up, gased up, and hooked up and ready to go to go on my first ride tomorrow with my new motor. i even rigged up a quick grab handle out of a peice of 3/4 inch conduit nothin fancy but itll work. I hope everything goes ok cause i plan on runnin ay least two tanks of gas through it.

Alright took the new motor out wont a bad day just really windy. Took a bit to get used to tge motor and to fifure out how to run it but once i did i was gettin between 20-21 mph with me(250) and 11 gallons of gas. The one thing i do have a question about is the motor idles extremely high around 2000 2100 rpm. Stupid question is that normal?

no that to high needs to be adjusted to idle around 1200 out of water and 900 in water.

I was lookin at it and it looks like there is a spring missin thats makin it idle so high. It litterally runs about 5 mile an hour at idle.

How did it do as far as swamping the back with water on the 14? When I called Beavertail they said it was too much weight for a 14

Naw it wont bad it weighs 12 more ponds than a 25hp outboard that its rated for it only weighs 170lbs.

Yeah i like it it just took some gettin used to to figure out how to drive it but i finally got the hang of it.

Def night and day from an outboard just make sure u got a hold of it cause it will get away from you.

Aight heres you a video still havin some issues with the throttle spring only turnin about 2800 rpm in the video but when i got it to turn 4000 i got 19 up river and 20 down river w/ me(250) my buddy(280) and 10 gallons of gas. Not bad i dont think.

Hedy no problem, i finally got my throttle issue figured out it was riduculous how it was setup so i reengineered it and now it works great got 1100 at idle and between 4200 and 4400 at wot. They way it was setup look like the board game mouse trap with levers and springs going all over the place when all it needs is one simple lever doing two things back and forth.
