Post Costly mistake
The accelerator pump rod froze up in its guide hole on my 45 HSR.

In the process of getting it unstuck I broke the ear on the plastic pump lever that sits next to the cable lever. Those two parts were 12 bucks, thats not the problem. There is a brass bushing in the carb body that guides that rod, I had to drift it out to remove the rod. Those bushing are not available!!!! I got it back in ,I think I am OK. If it leaks it can't be replaced ,factory says I need a new carb.

I have been clearing the carb often with carb cleaner to keep salt build up down. I should have been oiling the rod. When you boys get older you will learn a dry hole is no fun, in this case it may have cost me a carb.

Cowboy thought- a thong on a woman is like a barbed wire fence. It protects the property but doesnt obstruct the view.

Can you take a picture of what needs to be oiled? Is this something that everyone with a Mikuni should be doing or was this only causes by you cleaning it?

Having a machine shop make you a bushing may be cheaper than replacing the whole carb. Just a thought...

Breaking shit is always more fun, as long as it aint yours and you dont have to fix it.
