Post new pods!!!!
My new pods just came in the mail today, they look pretty slick! I will be putting them on shortly but I have to do alot of prepping and cutting to get them on.

Nice, but im a fan of screw in plugs hanging out the back. All it takes is one tough piece of vegitation to ruin a day quick.

Ya they are beavertail pods. I got them for 199.99. Ya I will run bolts through them instead of the T-handle screws. I am going to bold them on, so when I sell my boat in the future I can take them with me.

Alot of prep work ahead of me. My grandfather put line x on the transom as well as the transportation brackets for portable wheels.

Bit of work still to do - but I think you'll be happy with the end product.

Look forward to finished pics

Im assuming you bolted them thru the transom and siliconed in between the two for water purposes? What hardware did you use?

yes i did bolt them on. I got 3/8 stainless bolts, and an adhesive from work.(Cabelas) I also reinforced the transome side with 1/4''X 4'' aluminum flat bar for the other side. I am going to use seal adhesive from work to seal the outside of the pod. I have used that seal before and it is great stuff. Not sure what it is called but when I go to work I will write it down and let you know if you are interested.

Im interested. I'm building my own pods and have seen where some pods can have compressed air in them. Know anything about this? If I did that, I'd have to skip the bolt on style of my pods and just weld them to the transom. Curious if you think adding compressed air to the pods would make a difference.

Compessed air would be more dense. You would want a vacume.

my friend runs air in his and loves it he uses a valve stem and never has had a problem... making some for my boat. air is lighter than wet foam...just a tip so if you have a hole or break a weld all that water leaks in and thats extra weight trying to plane out just place the stem on the inside by the motor lower unit to protect it and weld a bigger pipe nipple or something on the outside of that to cover the lenght of the stem and never will have to worry....when you build them and weld them on pressure check the welds its a must to verify good welding and no leaks find an experinced welder if you can

Are you guys trying to say that compressed air or foam will make it draft less water?

I believe so Woodrow. Compressed air or foam will not make a difference in how it drafts.

im confused on why theyre puttin air in it too..
only reason i think it might be good is like how tube buggies use their tubing as an air tank.. but i dont see much need for that on a boat

i guess it wouldnt hurt, and for the little cost might not be a bad idea, but itll do nothing for performance..

Let me know what happens when you put more then say 3 to 5 psi in those pods.

I wouldnt want to be standing around them.

Im not storing air in the pods. I just put air into the pod and dunked it in soap and water. Then i cut the holes to bolt them on.

Great work. What longtail motor are you running on that 1444 during duck season? If not, what are the benefits for that conventional outboard?
