Post Budlight and Hydroturf!
Couldn't sleep last night and had enjoyed a few "cool ones" while bbq'en some chicken. My wife and daughter went to bed and I pulled the boat in the garage and thought what a great quiet time to put in my experimental sheet of hydro turf. Everything went well except when I cut out the front piece it was reversed. No Sh*t! What a rookie mistake and I won't tell you how pissed it made me because it was the main piece and there is an extra seam now. It's not the end of the world but it will drive me nuts looking at it from now on. If it wasn't sooo expensive I would have just used it somewhere else. I want to see how it holds up and I will do the front bow and rear area next. It is easy to cut and went on slick as Cat Sh*t! Just an update I really enjoy looking at everyones boat pictures!

Rule #33 on the hydroturf application: always quaft the cold ones after application. Because of that slipup, you'll have to reverse step on that piece from now on. I won't tell anyone! Hey, it happens, if anyone bitches about that seam, throw them overboard. I will put my floor piece down soon, no rush though, for the moment just stockpiling the brew.

Swampman, your boat looks great. What made you decide on the surface drive boat vs the long tail boat?

Thanks

Thanks. That is the 1644 model and is the longtail version according to go devil. The bow is a little different and sleeker than some of the older boats. I noticed that also when they sent me the photos of the finished boat awaiting delivery. I also think? that there is a slight rake built into the boat now that was not in the older models? I have two friends that had 18 and 16 44's and they seemed as I remember to lay "flat" and run "flat" in my memory??? This boat rides a bow up in the water. I am getting older and it has been a long time since I was in the older boats. My friends have since sold the boats and one moved to illinois. Thanks again and I posted two short video clips on you tube and in the video section of the forum.

Thanks Swampman, from the looks of your pics the boat has a side crimp and I thought the surface drive boats had a side crimp and the round chine boats were smooth. My mistake.
looks rugged and very practical. That would be a great alligator hunting boat with the open floor
in the middle.

139sst You are right! I didn't notice the side crimp missing on the Go Devil boats, I did notice some signifigant differences in the lines though! I guess it was added for strength? Just like the additional floatation pod in the rear of the boat. I was upset when I saw the pictures pre delivery and knowone would answer my questions. When I picked up the boat I was told that it was needed if I was using a surface drive but since it is easier to put them in all the boats thats how they come! Said Cocco sleeps bettter at night knowing he has done everything possible to ensure the safety of his customers and the kids that often accompany the adults. I agree 100%, however I did remove the rear float pod. That boat has more than enough floatation and I deal with the coast guard with my job and know how they sometimes over kill things that aren't the root cause? Thanks for the feedback, I do really like the boat I will say I should have gotten the 1844 with 35Lt due to all my "new" friends and people stop you on the street and ask "when are we going hunting"! Thanks again.
