I haven't heard much about these motors since they have come out?
Anyone here at mmt pulled the trigger on one of these units yet?


And I have run across a YouTube video before of a longtail motor with reverse it had the same setup as a gatortail but I can't find the video again has anyone else seen it?

Two videos were posted on here (by Paleo I think) of the new SLT, a 35 on a 1754 GT, scooting around pretty good, but that's been it. Use the search function. Looks promising, I am also intrigued by this new design despite the indifference by the shorty crowd (actually they all have attention deficit disorder big time and mod their motors instead of taking meds) . We longtail owners are just a tad slow. Probably some glitch in the parts procurement process. All humor aside, I am hoping for a breakthrough sometime soon.

I saw a 35hp at the SC Sparkleberry Poker run yesterday.

Selling PROS would be the gear reduction = belt drive, electric clutch =neutral, but my current motor has neutral every time I lift the wheel outta the water. My personal CON = HEAVY.

As always, time will tell, in the meantime, belts and electric clutches give me heebie jeebies. I drive 700 miles on OOS duck hunts, last thing I need is one more opportunity for mechanical difficulty.

Yessir it was there at the run. GPS speeds were 26 on a 1648 gtrax with only driver.

Did not get to drive it. Dwayne was enjoying that sucker pretty good. From what i could tell it looked like it was doing really well with it balancing out. Didnt look like he was having to big a problem with it but its still an lt.

I think 26 is pretty good on a lt personally. Hell there's several rigs on here that can barely run that with a sd. My opinion is just what it is. An opinion. First time seeing it in person and it did well from what i seen. Only time will tell

i dont disagree that 26 is good with a lt for all the hype they gave it it should be a 30 mph rig i see no reason to upgrade to that for that small of a gain mine works just as well imo

I will agree they did make it sound to be outstanding. My thing is why redo a lt when your behind in the sd department. Think they would have released the reverse models before the slt

I understand your point paleo. I say they are behind because of the lack of reverse. Im happy with my motor but damn i get tired of pushing off the trailer, bank, etc. IMO, they are ahead in the factory modded motors. Yes i know GT can do it but they dont advertise it.

Yeah, I could see wanting reverse in mud and vegetation. Most areas we hunt, we aren't supposed to power load anyway, and it is against the rules to run through established reed and grass beds, and we don't have mud like down south.

If South America can have a longtail with reverse, why can't we?

26 mph on a 1648 GT hull sounds very good. I'll bet on a lighter 1648 hull it might even be better, and if it will get 20 mph with two hunters and gear that is ideal for me. Time will tell on the clutch reliability and any belt issues. I've had my 27 MB LT since 2004 and I have no complaints and for the current prices listed, a 27 upgrade would be real good from where I run.

The boat it was on was a plain jane gtrax. Nothing in the interior besides drivers pod

a lot less tiller torque, the shaft is a foot shorter. the neutral is a plus, so is the hex propeller. speed is gonna vary from boat to boat, but so far it looks like a 2 to 3 mph improvement over regular lt depending on rig.
different tooth # gears also allow for customization, either top end speed or power. handle is also adjustable for height.
mods are available for more top end as well, a 5500 did well on the slt.

really waiting on reports of mud performance, digging, how shallow it will go etc...

I think they are running a 10" prop on the 35 SLT. I wonder, if it happens, what prop size the 27 HP SLT will use? I personally like the 27 and those improvements indawoods spelled out are signifiicant in the LT world. Due to where I run, I am not buying a shortail any time soon.
