 Heads/Cam Vs. Mikuni Carb????
It looks as if the Heads/Cam upgrade would be a similar price to the Mikuni carb (Minus the labor).
What would the approximate HP difference be assuming I was going to do one or the other.
I have a buddy that is a certified Briggs tech, so the labor isn't much of an issue.
So...... would you do heads/cam first or the Mikuni carb if you were me?
I already have the hopkins hogg exhuast.....

 Re: Heads/Cam Vs. Mikuni Carb????
I plan on doing all three at some point. Just not at the same time. I've only got about $800 to work with at this time. So which one first may be the better question?????

Heads and cam, since hunting season is over, your down time wont be as nerve racking, plus you can always bolt on the carb in an afternoon.

I'd have to say heads and cam also, you can gut the muffler and jet a carb until you have the funds to go aftermarket with those also.

 Re: Heads/Cam Vs. Mikuni Carb????
unless you are going ovr 4500 rpms do not bother with the cam. Put the head work and carb on it and you will get the same results only with better hole shot. The cam is not needed until you start putting serious mods and wanting to go faster on top end. I say going faster as in getting over the 35 mph mark. Giv us a call and we will see what we can do for you as far as carb and heads. We do have an adapter to bolt the 33mm and 42mm mikunis on a stock intake. We have done every combo you can think of and if you want pure power with no more than 35mph speed then leave the cam out. If you want speed over that then throw in the cam. Ofcourse boat and prop make a big difference as well.
