 female dog leaking issues HELP!!
I have a female lab whos a year and a half old that i got as a puppy and worked with. Shes a super smart dog and did great in her first duck season and i was blown away with what all she was able to learn in just her first year. she was spayed at 6 months and everything was going great except a leg injury last year (micro fracture), we took it easy and got it all heeled up.
recently after a lot of running, training, exercise she has been leaking urine. If we do a lot one day she will be happy as can be lay down on the floor and leak. this happened manly when she was running around and exercising, if she layed around all day she wouldn't leak. I have taken her to the vet and he said he sees it alot but never from a young dog like sophie whos not even 2, he normally prescribes it do dogs around the 15yo mark he gave us some medicine that helped strengthen some of her urinary muscles and that helped. on the medicine it helped her stop leaking form her normal daily routine of her running around the house/yard. but if i were to run her, or have her follow us on a four wheeler for a distance she would still be leaking even on the medicine.
If any of yall have any info i would greatly appreciate it. its just a pain and sad to see such a wonderful smart dog do great things then come in the house and leak without even noticing it.
I have talked with my vet and he thinks the next step is to goto Little Rock AR to a animal hospital and have her looked at. thanks for any help guys

Re: female dog leaking issues HELP!!
This is sometimes common in spade females. (at least that is what my vet said to me 4-5 years ago)
Sadie went through a period where she would leak. She has grown out of it and also I control her water a little more. Sadie is now going on 8.

prior to being spade she never leaked, and any chance you remember how long sadie went through her leaking phase? Sophie has had the issue for several months now, and thanks for the quick reply WEA

Re: female dog leaking issues HELP!!
Man she went through that phase for about 6-8 months maybe 1 year. I can't remember. I know I kenneled her during that time. I don't let her up in the bed anymore because of it. But, she hasn't had a problem in well over 3 years. My vet didn't want to give me any prescriptions unless it was needed. So I promptly started monitoring her water dish. No water after 8 or 9PM. Sadie's issue when she goes outside is that she never FULLY relieves herself. She goes from spot to spot peeing just a bit. Aimee my other lab goes to one spot & is done. I had Sadie's surgery done in Dallas when I was in school and wasn't crazy about that vet.
