I think Silvers are beautiful, but unfortunately the time is not right for me.
Are you a prefessional breeder?
I can see that you train on your FB page, but not much else...
I will be looking for a Champion bloodline Silver (I know they are rare) in 6 months to a year and will keep you in mind.

I would not call myself a professional, but I have been training and breeding dog for about 10 years. I started getting into the silver labs 4 years ago. I have trained them to do anything from retrieve birds to blood trail deer.

look up hrch gator point's bayou chopper sh thats a champion with a champion bloodline.I own 3 of his pups 24 titled dogs in a 4 gen pedigree. i gave $1000 each so i think your a little high on your price considering akc dont recognize silver they have to be registered as chocolate.

We could debate over the silver labs all day. Some people like them and some do not. I believe this is unique and other may not and that is fine too. The average price for a silver lab pup is $1000. I am not promising a world champion retriever but I think you will have a good dog that will work.

Looks like he is a registered chocolate. IIRC AKC only recognizes black, yellow, and chocolate. Good luck with the sale of your pups.

In AKCs eyes sivers are just light light chocolates, and i am sure crawford is aware of that. I dont think crawfordw2 was implying that these pups were registered "Silver Labs".

I think they are very good looking dogs as well... and the price will be determined by the buyers. I havent seen silvers listed for any less than $750 and the sire in this case is a champion. I would say that 1k is a fair price or close to it.

as i thought only 3 titled dogs in 5 generations how is this a champion bloodline? these dogs will not even show up in the pups pedigree. you will only get that much money cause of the color.in my experience with silvers as i have had a silver factored chocolate (sire was silver dam was chocolate)and had nothing but health problems with her and had to put her down after her fist litter.i have a puppy off of her who has 4 titled dogs in his 3 gen akc pedigree and i only want 700 for him and he's started.my other puppies pedegriee are full of champions maybe 3 dogs in it not titled. thats a champion bloodline

Post Re: Silver Lab Puppies with Champion Bloodlines
I can honestly say this. Having just sold 6 chocolate puppies that will have championed/titled parents and grandparents in their 3 generation pedigree, selling those puppies for 1k is significantly high without championed parents or grandparents (whether they are AKC or UKC). Because of backyard breeders I had to sell my puppies for $800 just to compete with the ill practice. Of course I could have asked more for them, but I would have had hell selling them. Backyard breeders are damaging the integrity of the breed.

Crawford I am in no way degrading your dog or the puppies. I am sure Tank is one hell of a dog. What I am pointing is out is obvious fact based off of the pedigrees you provided. There just simply is not anything in that pedigree that justifies 1k per puppy in today's hunting Labrador market. Some of it because there are other higher quality, proven pedigrees offered for a lower price and the other part because of backyard breeders who have a Labrador so "let's make a quick buck" mentality.

barnes_53,
I think you need to specify what you mean by "backyard breeders". I know several people with champion dogs and champion blood lines that breed their dogs to extend their blood line and make a little profit.
I personally would much rather purchase a pup from an individual who took the time to train his dog and chose to breed it after it achieved success in field trials as opposed to a large kennel that pumps out large numbers of pups a year.
You dog is beautiful and has an outstanding blood line. I mean no insult to her at all.
It just a fact that some (too many) breeders train dogs until they obtain their champion title, and then breed them as often as possible until they die. That is a shame in my mind, and not fair to the bitches especially.
As i said earlier, I would much rather buy a dog from someone who owns their dog as a pet than someone who pumps out puppies like they are parts on an assembly line.

@zschne1

No explanation needed....you and I are on the same page and have parallel views.

I was not calling Crawford's breeding a backyard breeding by any means! I was simply stating because of backyard breeding the breed quality drops and it also dictates the market value for a higher quality, proven pedigree lab. Relatively comparing high quality pedigrees on the market today at market price compared to the pedigree Crawford has posted IMO it is too high. I have researched this for over three years prior to breeding my dog. Am I a professional? No, never claimed to be. Did I do my homework? Yes, absolutely. Like you mentioned I bred my dog for the sole purpose of continuing her bloodline, although I did not make any money from it.

Crawford good luck with your puppy sale! :)

I understand completely. Glad to hear we are on the same page.
I make EXTRA sure to tip toe when talking about other peoples dogs...not much will get me fired up like some idiot making a comment about my dog.

i think you shoudnt advertise what you dont have.this dog doesnt have a champion bloodline weather hes a good dog or not.the first person who buys a pup from him thinks he has something and realy doesnt.just because tank has a title doesnt make him have a champion bloodline.the pedigree speaks for itself thats why i asked to see it i didnt think it was true.just because you put a escalade grill on a tahoe dont mean you got a cadillac.ijs all my dogs are my personal pets hell 3 of them live in the house and hunt with me.the only way to improve the breed is by breeding up with pedigrees not for color alone and to make money.you get what you pay for.i mean any good trainer can take a mutt and title him,and at the end of the day all you have on paper is a mutt thats why pedigrees are so important cause you have proof of great genetics.

Wut or who dictates a champion bloodline? Silver labs go for a premium from what I can tell, just like white labs. My last lab only had 1 MH in her whole pedigree and was the smartest dog that most people ever saw. She came from a backyard breeder. She was a hunting machine, not a champion field trial dog. She was black and I sure do miss her.

This is for sure not a championship bloodline, no matter how you look at it.

Barnes, thanks for the explannation. I love black labs for the dog they are. I will replace my Bailley soon and u have given me some good info.

My question to u is at what point does a puppy come from a champion pedigree? 20%, 30%, 90%?

if a puppy has mutiple titled dogs in the first 3 gen then it has a champion bloodline the more the better
