Post swamped go devil
So back home after swamping the boat, pulled the plugs and got the water out of the motor. Motor runs now. All water that will, has come out of drain hole. So my question is, what more do i need to do to avoid more problems?

Fresh water. I was gonna drain the oil and replace oil, actually seems like good idea to do it a time or two, cheap insurance i guess. Mainly curious about all the water in the belt housing, i know its indestructable and all, just being cautious.

Flush the belt housing with fresh water. Then liberally spray the inside of it with WD-40, Corrosion X, or something of that nature. Oil changes as stated before, and I'd change/regrease the shaft.

Flush the motor with diesel, take the plug wires off and turn it over a couple times

If the toothed belt slips due to having a little oil on it, the belt will be trashed.

People please do not put any kind of Fuel in the crank case of your motor. Fill it up with oil, let it warm up, then drain. Repeat until water is evacuated. Fuel is not meant to be in the crank case. it is a solvent.

Didn't do diesel. 6 flushes and filters later, seems to be happy now. Didn't look pretty starting out.

I think I would let it drain out the rest for the night, let all that milky oil settle, then in the morning leave the plug out and flush a quart or so through it to try to get the rest of that mily oil flushed out without cranking it up and Stirring it up again. Then when you get it to run clear, then cap it and fill it, then run and change again to see if it clears up.

That swamping looks like the product of Rabbit Slough tide change.... I towed a guy out of there last week who sank his excel and black death 4500. When I pulled the plugs on his motor, it shot LOTS of water out of the cylinder. He did the same thing you did, lots of oil changes, drain carb. Be careful when you tie up the boat out there!

Like Giga said, DEFINITELY pull the access plates off the lower and grease the two u-joints in there where that water is running out of. You can buy an aerosol "belt dressing" to spray on the belt, just to keep it in good shape. Screw buying grease from Go-Devil, it's nothing special. Go to a hardware store and buy marine grease in a tube and go to town. No sense in shipping the same damn thing from Baton Rouge to Alaska with a pretty label!
