The dog breaking would need to get fixed before the barking. That dog breaking while they are shooting is the bigger problem IMO.

The dog barking is actually a good sign. Show the dogs drive and level of excitement. The breaking shows lack of discipline and control.

I am surprised the dog still has its hearing as many times as they shot over its head. And I agree that he should not break. I have never had a dog, but would like one. I just am not home enough to keep him trained. I certainly couldn't do it myself.

Were I hunt with the current I let my dogs break. They need as big of head start as possible. If they run strait lines you will retrieve your dog everytime in the current. Mine run down the flats before entering the water

There's a difference between a little whining, and that dog flat out barking like it was. I would be more concerned with grandpa having his gun slung over his shoulder pointing it at people in the blind.
