 Beavertail Kohler 27hp LT
I currently have a beavertail Kohler 27hp LT, and have had troubles for TWO seasons now with the key between the shaft/u-joint slipping and causing damage or coming out all together. really becoming a hassle and am just wondering what you guys have done to solve this problem, or if you haven't had any problems with your Beavertails

 Re: Beavertail Kohler 27hp LT
I machined my own shaft and when I did the key way I left about 1/8 of metal on the wall so the jetway could not come out. Instead of a slot it's like a oval so no open ends.

 Re: Beavertail Kohler 27hp LT
Your problem may not be the u-joint. Check for bent shaft.
Also you can tap a 1/4 hole in side of u-joint into shaft and use a set screw.
