Post new mud motor suggestions
I'm new to the mud motor set up but after getting tired of stickin the outboard i'm making a change. I've looked into the 35 mud buddy longtail and the 27 mini surface drive. I have a 1448 alweld. Which of these two (or any other brands or hp's) would y'all recommend? Any input would be a great help. Most of my boating is huntin, froggin and runnin nets and speed isn't really an issue. I'm more concerned with reliability. Thanks fellas

23 godevil surface drive would work well on that boat, or the new 25 gtr gatortail. I don't have reverse on my godevil, but hear it's nice. Either motor would push a bigger boat, but your best road is to get a true mud boat in the 18' range and a 35 gtr...buy once, cry once.

I had my 27 mini on a 15 ft xpress before getting my current hull and it pushed it great. Also had a 23 long tail on the xpress and it did fine.

That information helps a lot. Does anybody have any input on the Dixie motors?

I'm running a 23 hp Dixie on a 1542 and I'm extremely pleased with it. Great motor for the $$$. Pm me if you want additional info.

A 23 dixie and a 25 Gtr shouldn't even be talked about in the same thread. That's like comparing a Cajun cooking a gumbo and a Yankee attempting to cook a gumbo!! Just my .02

Go devil 27 Surface drive. Just sold mine and moving up to a Go-devil SD35. Have also owned a Go-Devil 23 longtail and was very pleased. I have owned a Mud buddy 35 surface drive and it did its job but was not up to par. Hope it helps!!
