Hard metal=Break!!! Soft Metal=Wear!!! Take your pick,,,shooting a blade out the water at MachII or changing your prop every couple years....

Re: Any after market prop recommendations for my GTR 35?
We run a lot of sand up in mn and I can't get a season out of a MB or GT. We switched to Hopkins Tulip 12x12 and get two seasons out of it and can get 4 with one recup/finish for $70. We also started sending our props to get cryo treated http://www.arrowcryogenics.com/ $71 plus shipping. We compared two props that were treated and you can visibly see the difference in wear. Wasn't a believer in the cryo until we ran it for two seasons but we did notice a visible difference in wear. Pros for Hopkins IMO for my areas I run - much thicker and has more to work with once you need it refinished but you do lose some speed. We had more rake added to carry a load and jump on step. Trade offs between all 3. I did get a deal in a big blade this last season so decided to try the cryo and I was able to actually finish the season on it but I will be going back to Hopkins because I did have a lot of my leading edge wear off.

What about if you run really cold water??? Does that make the prop harder, more durable???

Re: Any after market prop recommendations for my GTR 35?
All I know is spending $200-@$250 a prop every 3 to 4 trips or half/full season wasn't working. We had one opening weekend eat up two brand new props so we had to look at something. We did a bit of research and found a lot of guys on the NASCAR circuit were having their brake pads and rotors cryo for the very same reason. It took me two seasons to become a believer after seeing the differences of a prop treated vs not treated, running in the same areas, same rigs with the same drivers and hours.
By no means am I saying sand isn't the kiss of death or that it's the end all be all fixing the affects of sand, I'm saying I've seen it in action up in our conditions and it does help. You still can't be an idiot in the sand and burry it but if I can save an extra $250-$500 a season and actually put my money towards some of the cool gear then I'm all over it.

Re: Any after market prop recommendations for my GTR 35?
so if i ate 2 props up in one weekend i'll be damned if i didn't push the boat next time lol So basically 500 dollars later you figured out you shouldn't do that no more. LIKE i said no motor will run sand without tearing a prop up
