 the fiscal cliff
The big talk right now is going over the fiscal cliff. Currently, President Obama has dug his own hole, and is standing in the middle of it.
Here is my bet. The republicans are going to walk over, reach down and pull him out of the hole; they will then jump down in the hole, pile dirt on their own heads, and be played the fool.
Let the dems own all of it. They ran on the platform of raising taxes, so let them do it on their own. Just do not put so much as one Republican fingerprint on anything that raises any tax. Show up, and vote present.
The American people voted for this stupidity, let them lay in their own filth for a while. Sometimes the best way to potty train a kid, is take off the highly absorbent diapers, put big boy clothes on them. Then when they piss themselves, make them wear it for a while and realize why it is not wise to piss on yourself.
Let the dems take all the credit for raising taxes and failing to make any significant cuts to spending. When they destroy the economy, come in on the next two elections, show the American people the folly of the liberals, and then pick up the ball and run with it.
Republicans will sign on for a tax hike, and then get blamed by the MSM for it, alone with getting blamed for any cut to programs. Mark my words.

 Re: the fiscal cliff
You are correct. We see how the dems are already blaming the republicans for the cliff, but yet the dems won't cut spending. They would rather hurt the country for their own political gain then so the right thing. It's sickening. We are not too far behind Greece. Time for Americans to wake up.

 Re: the fiscal cliff
Your idea is good, but what is to come from an increase of deficit to our economy? Can we even risk something like that at this point? The idea is simple, Earnings < Spending = Deficit. I'm pretty sure I learned that in like second grade. My question is why is this still going on? Why is this still a debate? Why is our country being run by people that can't put elementary education into perspective? The sad thing is the numbers in polls on this issue are still close, meaning a lot of people think raising taxes on rich people is going to fix this. I am just dumbfounded that people can't pull their head out of the so called "leaders" asses and see this. I just don't think this country can handle four more years of increasing debt. It's just truly sad, our founding fathers would be appalled if they could see this. The whole American way of life is changing before our eyes. The land where my ancestors were given a chance to be somebody from working their ass off, building roots for the future generations to prosper, so they could achieve it too, working their tail off. My ancestors didn't come here for handouts or an easy living, they came here for a chance of a better life through earning it not to be spoon fed from the government. I mean how in anyone's right mind could they think that we are going to tax our way out of debt. Tax and tax and tax so the government can hand out more and more and more. Giving aid to countries that hate us, giving aid to people who have never worked a job but know how to work the gov, free healthcare, free food, free housing, free schooling etc..Looking back at what I just wrote I see your point I guess you are right because there is no other way for the citizens to change it besides in the voting booth and we have proved that doesn't work either. But if this is what it takes we are gonna be on one bumpy path for a while. It's a shame it has come down to that.

 Re: the fiscal cliff
The American people will not learn, until they experience pain from the stupid decisions they made.
Just my opinion, but the system is so large, so burdened that it will no longer work for us, but it works against it.
Let the socialists break it, vote them out come back in and rebuild.
I am starting to come to the conclusion that the American system will not be fixed without blood shed. When the system breaks, the 47% are going to revolt. The welfare recepient will rise up and destroy.

 Re: the fiscal cliff
Most experts believe deficit spending is a necessary element of economics and it is ciclycle. It's just the way money talks. No need to start a revolution...things will swing back in the other direction soon enough.

 Re: the fiscal cliff
I agree Ranger. It's sad to think, but I see another civil unrest/war in our future. Many of the idiots in DC have bought their elected positions with providing more and more handouts. We can all agree that there is a portion of the population that is more interested in working the system than in working a real job. (I'm not talking about the people who truly need help). I'm referring to the leaches in our society. Also in this leach category are the lowlifes that riot and destroy/loot at any reason. Look at the looting after Katrina, if it was just food and water and a matter of life and death, maybe. But the looting was everything. Same with the riots during the Rodney King trial. Why were innocent business owners targeted??? Because there is a breakdown in morals of society.
When the government finally stops providing for these leaches, they will revolt. They will turn on anyone including each other. Then they will realize that they are targeting the wrong people (other leaches) and mob together against hard working and productive people... This is when the hate mongers like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will spur it on by spouting about inequalities and to take what they are owed. The leaches will target everyone who has anything of value or perceived value, even democrats and liberals.
This is why I think anyone who preps for doomsday or a natural disaster is ahead of the curve. But the preppers who go on NatGeo and show/admit to what they have are S-T-U-P-I-D. Why on earth advertise what you have? This is why officially, i don't own squat... Except maybe a supersoaker, a few water balloons and for food, only one expired can of beans. My story and I'm sticking to it. Now, I won't use my supersoaker except to defend myself and to keep my shit as my shit.
I hope I am wrong about all of this, but I think we have seen enough examples of this leach behavior to draw these conclusions.

 Re: the fiscal cliff
fiscal cliff and debt ceiling is all scare tactics to get the people to go along with the government so that they, the gov, can grab more power and control........we are pavlovs dogs...ring a bell and everyone salivates.........I think republicans in the house should just go home and let BO and his admin present the plan with tax hikes and cuts.....give it to them........what is proposed will not put a dent in the deficit or the debt......If they really wanted to save the country from this humongous debt we have they have to raise taxes on all people and cut spending dramatically or all is for nothing......something like a 5% increase across the board for income taxes, actually a reduction in corporate taxes would allow businesses to bring money back to the states and with that some jobs.....a 5% reduction in entitlement spending and weeding out duplicitous programs could go a long way to financial stability.......
