Glock 26 or 27. Small enough for a woman to be comfortable with, decent capacity, simple to operate, and proven reliability.

I still say 9mm is way better for a defensive pistol for a number of reasons... The only rounds that count are the ones that hit the target. 9mm is cheap to practice with, low recoil, and high capacity.

what i like is all the others trying to be the 1911 , so i like the standard they are trying to get to colt , but with that being said i own some kimbers like a lot carry them , but the the new xds is great to . there are some great wepons out there .

Ok next question can she manipulate the slide properly?? Most women don't have enough hand strength/grit to do a empty magazine change !
My wife LOVES to shoot my Baby Eagle .40 full size but she can't "rack" the slide on an empty chamber
Kinda important if she can't operate the women proficiently it could kill her in the end
