Anyone alive? PD Trim Unit help
Trim ain't workin too swiftly....real sluggish. Battery's good. Hyd fluid is low so I need to add- However it completely quit working...raised it enough to get the motor to tow mode...30 seconds later it's done. WTF???

Re: Anyone alive? PD Trim Unit help
Mess with the wires where they come out of the trim motor. Mine had to be rewired by PD. The wires were just a little to short and over time one broke from fatigue right at the rubber gromet where it goes into the housing.

Re: Anyone alive? PD Trim Unit help
Hopefully its just your wiring, a few of us down this way have been having issues with water getting inside the plastic motor housing. the field and armature were building up rust and making contact.
simple test, tap on the plastic motor housing with the handle of a screw driver while working the trim switch up and down. if it starts working more than likely you've got water in there. Its not hard to take apart. a 30 min job total to break it down, clean it up, and reassemble.
Do a search on here, there's a similiar thread on this topic with a lot more info.

Big Teee My old fashoined hand cranker PD trim works great, never failed me either, just a shot or two twice a year with the grease gun is all it needs

Re: Anyone alive? PD Trim Unit help
Heell, I broke that too, ( my fault tho, I kept forgetting to loosen the little tention knob on top and buggered up the main threads, it still lasted me two years) I switched to the hydraulic so I could still hang out with the cool kids! Some people are just rougher on there chit than others!
