Anyone know what kind of speeds I would get wit the mud b vs the gtr tail? I want a fast boat don't really know much about either motors. I have friends wit hd45 it's nice but never ride wit a gtr tail. Any info would help thanks

I won't jump into the pecker measuring contest that's about to start, but Z71v2.0 has a 17.5x48. When he went from a stock 35 MB with Crossover Exhaust, to a stock 35 GTR with stock exhaust, he gained 3 mph. Both motors have 32" outdrive. Apples to apples comparison on same boat with same load.

Gtr faster huh. How do they hold up? Ez to upgrade an maintain?

All of them are easy to maintain, & will be reliable if they are maintained. I've had 3 different MB motors & 4 GTRs. I prefer the GTR, as I can go more places with a stock motor with reverse than I could with a heavily modded MB without reverse.

My advice is try em both, then get the one you feel the most comfortable with, NOT the one the salesman says is best.

they both use the brigs 35 and can be modded the same due to being the same motor......you just need to decide if you want reverse or not and whether you want to buy a motor made in south lousianna marshes or the utah desert.

That's my problem. I don't care for reverse I figure the people i take huntin can push the boat. Haha but like I said I've never had the chance to see the gtr in action much less rode in one. I am new to this so I guess I want some thing that's going to be reliable. N I really wana b faster than my buddy with this Black Death 55 on a custom 1848 or so.

I really hunt the marsh n bayous alot. Wax lake is big n gets Lil ruff sometimes. U really need a strong boat sometimes. I really want a motor that will get me where I need to b in a short amount of time! Few of my friends all have mb so that's all I know. N of course u know they are gonna tell me the best is what they have. Hd35 an Black Death 55. They both do the trick jus fine. rob can tell you what you need to make a motor go fast....also since you are in la, you can go directly to the factory and get hoyt to work on it......beats taking it to some retail service center or having to send it back to utah.

There is always the Sport V, it has revolutionized the mud motor industry, there is nothing to compare it to.

My buddy has a 1744 round chine gatortrax. with 1-2 people it does good, but when you put 3 guys and gear, it turns into a turd. But he also has a stock motor.

1846 with 35 GTR, get cam, heads, exhaust, & carb kit. You'll be in 35 mph ballpark

the fastest mud motor you can build will not be reliable.....do you want to be fast empty or with a load? If you wanna be really fast go with a tunnel hull with an outboard and jack plate.....mud motors are not fast, they will just take you further than an outboard.....take em has the fastest most reliable motor i have seen. but he dosent run it wot everywhere either.......
