Post 32 pd with a problem
My pd has a problem. The rod that the chain link is atached to hold up the motor rubs against the engine. also the motor moves back and forth on the joint where the motor and cluth assembly mate to the lower unit drive. Is this a seal or is it the bushing inside that is bad. Any help is much needed and apriciated.

There should be some slack in that joint but the stud should not be hitting the motor I have Hyd T&T and my stud was the same length as the one with the chain so I cut it and made it looke like the other one...

The bar that the chain link is welded to is strait up and down( i just put a square on it) and it is still hit in the motor. I tightened all the mountin bolts and put greese in it. The "slack" is that when i push down on the tiller arm the motor moves 3/4 to an inch befor the lower unit comes up. sorry about the unclairity.

I think TBS has it correct.

I have a 36pd with the manual trim and I have a small aluminim block and chain link mounted on the longer stop rod. I knocked the crap out of something last weekend and it bent the shit out of it. Which is what is supposed to happen unless you want the motor in the boat with you.

You will either have to take a substantial piece of cheater pipe that slides on the rod stop that allows you to bend it back like it was, or replace it.

I have not been able to do either yet as I don't have the right size cheater pipe, and I can't get the damn thing out in order to replace it.

Takes less than an hour to pull the power head off, drop the lower unit and then reassemble. I'd pull it and find out.

My 32 did the same thing. I just took a piece of pipe and bent it back to the front of the boat. Finally I just cut it off once I got the Hyd TnT

If the pipe is hitting engine, spend the extra money and put Hydro Trim, and cut the pipe.. That is what I did..
